Learning from home...in Week 4.

Some children stayed at home to keep safe while others recovered from being sick. Mrs Carter wishes you all a speedy recovery and return to school as soon as you can to continue your learning. Unfortunately Omicron is starting to spread through our community, so stay safe everyone and take care. Remember "Kawa of Covid". Keep washing your hands to stop the spread of germs.
Mrs Carter was at school doing online Google Meets with children who were at home at this time. But we still had lots of fun!

Fishing fun!

On the weekend Mrs Carter and her family took their boat out near Waiheke Island and caught some snapper for dinner! We also got to see the sunrise which was so beautiful. Then we were lucky enough to get some fresh strawberries from our neighbours who went to Clevedon Strawberry farm near the airport. Like I always say Team 2, sharing is caring...It is lucky that we're able to do a few more things while keeping safe, even though we are still in lockdown.

Lockdown holidays...

In the October school holidays our Prime Minister Jacinda Adern said we were allowed to go boating again. So Mrs Carter and her family took their boat out into the Hauraki Gulf and went fishing! We left the boat ramp at Half Moon Bay marina at 7.30 am and returned at 3pm in the afternoon. It was such a lovely day out on the ocean, we went to 3 different fishing spots. Her youngest son caught the only legal sized snapper. Everyone else caught under sized fish that had to go back into the moana. It actually felt like we were on holiday! Kapai mahi whanau

Mrs Carter learns a new skill in lockdown...

During the October school holidays Mrs Carter looked up on YouTube "how to make facemasks" and then she got to work on her sewing machine. So now she has some masks to wear outside to keep her safe during lockdown.

Congratulations to all the prize winners for doing their best online learning throighout this lockdown, attending Google Meets and blogging their work! We hope you have a safe holiday break with your family. Remember to be kind and be a great helper around the house. Take care and stay in your Bubbles...

Best turnout!

Yesterday we had the best turnout for our Rm 24 Google Meet, with 12 tamariki and 2 support staff joining in our afternoon korero. We had a discussion about who owns a "Pop It" and there were lots of you who do! Do they float or sink in the bath? There are rainbow ones, heart ones, unicorn ones and many more...Mrs Carter has a teddy bear one. You might like to take a photo of your one too?

Life Education with Harold

Rm 24 thoroughly enjoyed their time with Sylvia and Harold in the Life Education Caravan over the past two weeks. We learnt how to make good choices using our brains; to get rid of our "cheeky monkeys" and bring back our "wise owls". There are also some colour posters which we can use to identify our own well being to recognise our own feelings and also when we need help to have healthy relationships with others.

Thermal clothes for winter!

We are so very thankful for the gift of thermal clothes from Stoney Creek and Curate Church which we receieved last month. These will keep us warm and comfortable during these cold winter months. The children from Rm 24 were so happy and delighted with their "present" boxes. Blessings to all those involved including our school support staff who delivered the boxes to us.

Ruby comes to PES!

Mrs Carter brought her pet rabbit Ruby in to school for the day. She is a Netherland Dwarf variety, an albino (she has got white fur and red eyes). She came to vist the children of Rm 24 and those students on "Friday clubs" blogging club! She was very well behaved and sat for a pat and a fur brush and ate some carrot and healthy spinach leaves and kibble for lunch. Have a look at some of our blogs and leave a positive comment.
