Making Rewana bread

At the end of Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori Mrs Carter decided to try this new recipe for the first time at home in lockdown. Rewana bread is so tasty, it was very popular with her whanau and they enjoyed eating this kai!

Learning a new skill with Miss West

This week Miss West joined our class Google Meet and showed the children how to make a "Stop Motion" animation video using their iPads at home! Tevita filmed his Lego semi truck and trailer and used a remote control to make it move backwards, hook up to the trailer and then it moved amazing! Well done from Mrs Carter.

Best turnout!

Yesterday we had the best turnout for our Rm 24 Google Meet, with 12 tamariki and 2 support staff joining in our afternoon korero. We had a discussion about who owns a "Pop It" and there were lots of you who do! Do they float or sink in the bath? There are rainbow ones, heart ones, unicorn ones and many more...Mrs Carter has a teddy bear one. You might like to take a photo of your one too?

Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori!

Nau mai, haere mai welcome to Maori Language week. Have you tried this new game which encourages you to learn new words in Te Reo Maori? It is really fun and can be found on our Team 2 site in the Creative Writing folder. We are singing a new Waiata every morning at our Team Rua Assembly! Fun Friday!

On Friday 10th September Rm 24 dressed in their pyjamas for our 2pm Google Meet! We also brought our favorurite teddy bear or soft toy to share...Then Mrs Carter held a spelling competition of "Bedtime" words, the first person to write the correct answer in the chat was the winner. We had so much fun and enjoyed hearing everyone introduce their teddy friends...

Tongan Language Week

Celebrating Tongan Language Week!

There are lots of Tongan speaking children in our class and this afternoon Tevita, Marriane, PJ, Ezekiel and Akanesi shared some of their language with us! We got to learn and practice saying so many new words in Tongan. We could write a mini dictionary! Thank you for sharing your ideas about Fiafia, Lu Sipi, White Sunday and cultural dress. Team 2 Assemblies

Team 2 have been meeting online at 10 am from Monday to Thursday to listen to one teacher present Team 2 Assembly. They talk about schoolwork planned for the week in Reading, Writing, Maths and Inquiry whilst in Level 4 lockdown. One child is chosen to lead our karakia and then we sing the National Anthem together. There are also achievement certificates for XtraMaths and birthday celebrations. Remember to listen to our team messages for the day. What topic of learning are you going to start with today? Rm 24 Google Meet

This week we are meeting with our own classes at 2 o'clock in the afternoon as our morning Team 2 Google Meets were getting busy and now everyone can have a turn to talk when they raise their hand and use GM4GM! Arm extension!

Have you ever wished that your arm was longer and stronger? Well now you can make your own arm extension using some card or paper and wooden skewers. Catapult City!

Create a tune!

New faces join our Google Meet!

Smoothie Time!

Mrs Carter likes to drink a healthy smoothie for her breakfast during lockdown. We asked some Team 2 children what do you eat for breakfast at our Google Meet. Some answers were; weetbix, cornflakes, scrambled eggs, cocoa pops, toast and milo!

Level 4 lockdown!

Team 2 have enjoyed meeeting online and practising GM4GM, Google Manners for Google Meets for the end of this week. Everyone has been remembering to keep their microphones on mute until it is their turn to talk and raise their hand if they would like a turn to speak. This afternoon Ms Gaston read a story called "The Very Cranky Bear" and then some people got to share their favourite toy. It is so nice to see you all. Life Education with Harold

Rm 24 thoroughly enjoyed their time with Sylvia and Harold in the Life Education Caravan over the past two weeks. We learnt how to make good choices using our brains; to get rid of our "cheeky monkeys" and bring back our "wise owls". There are also some colour posters which we can use to identify our own well being to recognise our own feelings and also when we need help to have healthy relationships with others.

Thermal clothes for winter!

We are so very thankful for the gift of thermal clothes from Stoney Creek and Curate Church which we receieved last month. These will keep us warm and comfortable during these cold winter months. The children from Rm 24 were so happy and delighted with their "present" boxes. Blessings to all those involved including our school support staff who delivered the boxes to us.

Rm 24 enjoyed playing the "Ball and Spoon Race" inside the school hall for Kiwisport during Week 3 of Term 3. The idea of the game is to try your best not to drop the ball and then pass the spoon onto the next person. Going forwards looked easy, what about walking backwards?! Great teamwork everyone from Mrs Carter.

Term 3 Inquiry movie

Team 2 tamariki in Friday's Cooking Club have been learning how to cook healthy kai. We have made sweet carrot cupcakes and savoury muffins using vegetables from our garden. A number of students from Rm 24 have also been recognised for bringing fruit in their lunchboxes.

Matariki Day

Mrs Carter brought some clay for tamariki to make mini waka and then decorate them with small colured stones and pebbles. We also used toothpicks to represent the oars. Kapai mahi tatou!

Our trip to Stardome!

We travelled by bus to One Tree Hill in Greenlane and went to visit the observatory. Inside there were lots of things to explore such as rockets made of Lego, telescopes, the black hole. John taught us all about how the sun rotates around the earth and the moon also rotates to give us daytime and nightime. Then we got to watch a movie about Space called Tycho.

Jacob really enjoyed pretending to be an astronaut! He introduced the planets with this Space helmet and did some great acting. Well done to Isla-May and Khaing-May for sharing their story writing as well!

Team 2 Inquiry Immersion Assembly

The teachers in Team 2 performed a dance/rap to "It's my time to shine" to introduce the Inquiry focus of "Watch this Space". We are going to be learning about the Sun, the Earth and the Moon. What part did you like the best?

Ruby comes to PES!

Mrs Carter brought her pet rabbit Ruby in to school for the day. She is a Netherland Dwarf variety, an albino (she has got white fur and red eyes). She came to vist the children of Rm 24 and those students on "Friday clubs" blogging club! She was very well behaved and sat for a pat and a fur brush and ate some carrot and healthy spinach leaves and kibble for lunch. Have a look at some of our blogs and leave a positive comment.

Purple Day!

On Friday 26th March it was mufti day at school. We wore something purple to acknowledge National Epilepsy awareness. Team 2 looked fantastic in all their purple outfits. What a great looking bunch of children you all are!

Back to Level 3 lockdown again!

PES picnic day!

On Friday 26th February our school took a hikoi down to Pt England reserve and joined in with a picnic lunch, swim in the sea with Mrs Carter, play on the beach and time with their whanau! There were so many fun activities to try such as bike riding with Mr J and Ms Tumahai, cricket with Miss Timmy, rippa rugby with Mr Moran, volleyball, softball, walking, making sandcastles, finding crabs, being buried in the sand, playing on the playground and taking turns on the swing.
